In the year 2121.....

In the year 2121, in just 100 years from now, every single reader of this piece will be underground, our bodies having become part of the soil. During that time, our fate with respect to paradise or hell would have been made known to us.

Meanwhile above the soil, our houses that were left behind would have become homes for others, our clothes would have become garments for others, our cars will be driven by others, and as for us, we will be – for the most part – never thought about by anyone again. How often do you think about your great grandfather? How often does your great grandmother cross your mind?

Reading Novels

A beautiful parable in the hadeeth compares a good friend with a perfume seller and a bad friend with a blacksmith. The least benefit one will acquire in the company of a perfume seller is that one will certainly get the beautiful scent of perfume, which will freshen the mind and heart.

The Stranger Danger

In an age where kidnapping, child-trafficking, child-abuse, drug addiction, gangsterism and other societal scourges are on the rise, almost every parent will, at some point, stress and emphasize on their children the danger of strangers. Parents warn their children to never take a lift with a stranger, never speak or disclose personal information to a stranger and never accept a gift from a stranger. In short, they urge them to never stay close to strangers.

A Message from DRUGS

I destroy homes, tear families apart,
take your children, and that’s just the start.

I’m more costly than diamonds, more costly than gold.
The sorrow I bring is a sight to behold.

And if you need me, remember I’m easily found,
I live all around you, in schools and in town.

I live with the rich, I live with the poor,
I live down the street, and maybe next door.

Uswatun Hasanah - an excellent example

True love for our Master Nabi Muhammad صلى اللّٰه عليه وسلم is displayed in the emulation of his excellent example, as Allah Ta'ala has declared:

لقد كان لكم فى رسول للّٰه اسوة حسنة

“There has certainly been for you in the Messenger of Allah an excellent example....”

Sayyidul Ambiyaa, Khaatamun Nabiyyeen, Rahmatal lil Aalameen, Habibur Rahman Sayyidina Muhammad Rasulullah صلى اللّٰه عليه وسلم is the GREATEST person to ever set foot on this earth. His lifestyle and example was the purest and the most perfect, and will remain so forever. It is the duty of every Muslim to try and emulate Rasulullah صلى اللّٰه عليه وسلم to the best of his ability, in all aspects, be it eating, dressing, talking, sleeping, visiting, etc.

Are You an Addict?

Have you ever taken note of a drug addict’s behaviour and the signs of his addiction? Bloodshot eyes... Poor sleep pattern and appetite... Irritability and fidgetiness... Depression and weight loss... Being ‘completely zoned out’...Items or cash ‘disappearing’ (stolen) in their vicinity... These are just some of the typical signs.

Now, think of a gamer hooked onto their PC, Xbox or PlayStation. Do they not appear to be ‘zoned out’ and oblivious of their surroundings, spending hours and hours immersed in their fantasy world, leading them to become sleep deprived? Do their eyes not become bloodshot (from staring at the screen for extended periods)? Do they not become irritable and susceptible to mood swings? In many cases, does money not ‘disappear’ (where children ‘borrow’ their parents’ credit cards for in-game purchases)?

Prescriptions for finding a Good Spouse

It is the desire of every person to get married, have children, settle down etc. For many, this happened easily without going through any worries and difficulties. However, for many as well, this is an issue of struggle. Sometimes, the parents do not want their child to get married and refuse any proposals which come their way. Sometimes, proposals are simply not coming and one is left wondering for how long will the single status remain. Whatever the reason, many people are in this predicament and are searching for ways and means to get out of it. Below are listed a few ways, methods and suggestions which may, Insha Allah, help one forward.

1. Recite Surah Dahr daily - an elderly/middle aged woman related that during her Madrasah days, their Ustaadh advised the class to recite Surah Dahr daily for a good spouse.

Copyright in Islam

Q: What is the ruling regarding copyright, etc?

A: It appears in Al-Ashbaah wan Nazaair that the purchasing and selling of rights is not permissible. Just as it is unanimously not permissible to sell the rights of walaa (the right of the master receiving the inheritance of a slave after he is freed in the case where he does not have any relatives) and shuf’ah (the right of pre-emption), similarly it is not permissible to sell copyrights. Hazrat Moulana Rasheed Ahmad Gangohi (rahimahullah), Moulana Ashraf Ali Thaanwi (rahimahullah), Moulana Khaleel Ahmad Saharanpuri (rahimahullah) and Mufti Mahmood Hasan Gangohi (rahimahullah) are unanimous in respect to this mas’alah.
